What is the hydrolysis catalyst?

 In chemical production, especially when processing chemical raw materials made from oil, coal, and coke, hydrolysis agents play a crucial role. These raw materials often contain organic sulfur components such as carbon oxysulfide (COS), and most synthetic catalysts are particularly sensitive to sulfur. Trace amounts of sulfides may cause catalyst poisoning and deactivation. Hydrolytic agents react with water vapor to convert COS into carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), which can then be further treated, such as using activated carbon or iron oxide desulfurizers, to remove H2S and reduce the total sulfur content to below 0.1 ppm, effectively protecting precious metal synthesis catalysts from deactivation due to sulfur poisoning.

Sulfides such as COS in the feed gas react with trace amounts of water in the feed gas under the catalytic action of a catalyst, hydrolyzing to produce easily removable H2S, which is thoroughly removed on activated carbon or iron oxide desulfurizer in the later stage.
