Packaging Types Of Industrial Catalysts

Leave a message

The packaging of catalysts directly affects product activity, storage stability and transportation safety. In industrial applications, appropriate packaging solutions are selected according to the physical and chemical properties, hazard classification and order volume of catalysts, to guarantee product quality and meet safety standards for storage and transportation.

Conventional catalysts with stable properties and no safety hazards are generally packed in double-layer simple packages, including desulfurizers, molecular sieves, alumina supports, as well as standard pellet and extruded catalysts. An inner PE plastic liner is used for moisture-proof sealing, matched with woven bags, with standard specifications of 25kg and 50kg. This packaging design features simple structure and low cost, suitable for overland transportation and general warehouse storage, which effectively prevents moisture absorption and powder leakage. Vacuum aluminum foil packaging is adopted for lab samples and small-batch precious metal catalysts to isolate air and moisture and avoid catalyst deactivation caused by oxidation.

Special hazardous packaging is mandatory for highly active catalysts with potential safety risks. Pyrophoric alloy catalysts are sealed in galvanized steel drums with water sealing to isolate oxygen and prevent spontaneous combustion. High-value hydrogenation catalysts such as palladium carbon (Pd/C) and platinum carbon (Pt/C) are packed in sealed steel drums or thickened plastic drums with superior shock resistance and tightness. For export and hazardous goods shipment, UN-certified standard steel drums marked with hazard labels are applied to comply with international dangerous goods transportation regulations.

Large-volume bulk packaging is adopted for mass industrial supply. Micro-spherical catalysts for FCC and MTO units with stable performance are mostly packed in bulk bags and IBC totes, facilitating forklift handling and container shipment.

In summary, catalyst packaging focuses on moisture resistance, anti-oxidation and safety protection. Differentiated packaging selection based on product characteristics serves as a fundamental guarantee to maintain normal service performance of catalysts.
