Hydrorefining, also known as hydroprocessing, is one of the most important refining methods for petroleum products. Under the presence of hydrogen pressure and catalyst, harmful impurities such as sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen in the oil are converted into corresponding hydrogen sulfide, water, and ammonia for removal, and olefins and dienes are hydrogenated and saturated, and aromatic hydrocarbons are partially hydrogenated and saturated to improve the quality of the oil. Sometimes, hydroprocessing refers to the refining and upgrading of light oil products, while hydroprocessing refers to the refining and desulfurization of heavy oil products.
The main purpose is to modify oil products, improve product stability, extend the service life of engines and other equipment, and reduce environmental pollution. The reaction conditions for this process are generally: pressure of 4-8 MPa, temperature of 320-400 ℃.
